Now, I'm Starting to Get Really Worried...

Matt is not any better. He has finished the Levaquin the doctors gave him and he still feels terrible. He has horrible headaches and when he sleeps he wheezes.

He doesn't want to go back to the doctor to spend more money on a co-pay.

If this was one of my kids, I would have had them at the doctor days ago. But how do you get a grown man to go? I'm at my wits end.

Because you sound so very worried, maybe it's time for an intervention, because, golly, he shouldn't mess around if there's a chance it's pneumonia. Does Matt have any brothers or sisters who could come over and help you coax him into the car pointed in the direction of the Urgent Care Clinic? You'd probably both rest easier if he had a chest x-ray to help monitor his progress (<-- a lot less expensive than a hospital stay-- a major lung infection isn't going to go away on its own, but you already know that)

Man, truly it's the BIG "kids" that give us the gray hair... I'll keep your family tucked in my Good Night Prayers.

wonder if the bug he had was resistant to the Levaquin and he needs something different to clear it up. I bet if he called the doctor and explained he was still having symptoms the doctor might call in something else without him having to go in; he would still have to pay for the meds, but might avoid the doctor's visit

men are soooo stubborn sometimes! good luck; hope you can get him to see the wisdom of at least calling the doctor; I struggle with these same issues here with my hubby too when he gets sick

Are there any over the counter medicines you could try to get him to take?

Hope he gets better soon!

My hubby is just the opposite.. he gets a zit and he's off to see the doctor.

Matt reeeaally needs to get back to the doctor. Pneumonia or the lungs are NOT something to mess around with!

Perhaps if you remind him of a couple things that penetrate the fog of not feeling well, he'll umm.. get motivated.

1) In his condition, he could be dead meat for swine flu.

2) He has three very lovely ladies that count on him, love him, and want him to better as soon as possible.

3) His friends want him to feel like the cheery happy Matty of old while he is watching his classic comics on TV on Saturday mornings.

Follow your gut with this. If your gut is telling you, he needs medical help, then do everything you can to convince him of it. I like Intense Guy's suggestions.
