Ahhh....Resolutions!

I thought about this long and hard today. What was going to be my resolution? I could do the obligatory diet/exercise, but I'm already on that kick (24 lbs!)

Then it hit me on a dreaded trip to a family member's house today. There are certain things in this life that we are obliged to do, see family, work, taxes etc. They aren't pleasant, but we're adults and adults have responsibilities.

So, while I sat in the car today, listing all the horrible things that could happen at the residence that we were going to, it occurred to me to just let it go. Whatever happens, happens. I can't control what people do, I can only control how I react to them. So, that's what I did. I recognized my feelings, embraced and then released them. I suddenly felt completely buoyant.

That is what I resolve to do this year and years to come. Recognize, Embrace, and Release. I will just keep going along me way. It reminds me of Dory in the Pixar movie "Finding Nemo"

"Just keep swimming"

"Just keep swimming"

"Swim, swim, swim"

"Just keep swimming"

That's some pretty strong advice coming from a fish.

Some of my less epiphany-inducing resolutions are:

I will learn to knit this year if it KILLS me!

I will try Yoga or some other mind/body/spirit thing. (And not at home, at a class with an instructor... or life coach... or sensei... or psychiatrist or... whatever)

There you have it, what I plan on doing this New Year. Namaste!

Dory is AWESOME! That's the best advice I've heard in a while actually even if it is coming from a fish.

Good luck learning to knit. I learned from my brother's fiancee and one of those $8 kits from Walmart. It took me almost a year but I'm doing the ever elusive (according to my brother's fiancee anyway) purl stitch.

I'm with you and Dory, just keep swimming, swim swim swim! I don't know about the yoga, I tried it and it's too slow. Maybe if they came out with heavy metal yoga.....I know its supposed to be relaxing, but if they could just pick up the pace a little.

What a great goal. A lesson we should all learn from a fish....

That's awesome! I need to follow the same advice (in a big way). I will remember that.

As for knitting, it's EVIL. I say this with first-hand experience. You're too good for the knitting!

24 lbs. That if freakin' awesome. You go girl.

My whole family is freakin' nuts (except me and Heather, just ask her) and that is kinda what we have to do to survive. Of course we have each other to lean on and that helps. Good luck with it. Once you realize that is what you need to do it can be done. So, how did the visit go?

Good luck with your resolutions. When you're a fish, all you can do is keep swimming or die. Kinda the same for people. Just keep living, or die.

Recognize, Embrace, and Release. Good idea.
