I'm Throwing You a Change-Up.

I have run out of things to post for Flashback Saturday, so I am making a change. From now on I am going to post a song from the 70's or 80's and I hope you will tell me what your favorite memory is of that song. It will be called Acid Flashback Friday. I hope you all enjoy it and play along.

Here is the first installment of Acid Flashback Friday...

Working My Way Back to You - The Spinners 1979

When I first heard this song, we were in the car, and I couldn't figure out how my Mother already knew all the words.

Have you ever pulled up to a stoplight and you look over and there is a woman just dancing like there is no one looking? That was and still is my mother and this song will get her every time.

Do you have any memories of this song?

This is a great idea. I use to post tons of You Tubes in my blog that got eaten by Google. I love this song. I have no special memory of it. I thought it was out way before 79.

Ahhhh yes, you gotta love when they "remake" songs. Now I know how Emerson feels when we sing songs on "her radio station" and she looks at us and asks, "How do YOU know this song?" LOL!

My memory of this song is from 7th grade when we had to pick small groups of 3 or 4 people and then take 3 songs and fit them into our little plays that we had to write. This was one of the songs we picked! LOL! Too funny.

Oh, by the way my dearest... Go over to my blog. There's a little somethin' somethin' over there you might want. ;)

I remember hearing my Mam playing it when I was younger, but don't really have any memories of it as such.

Will play along if possible, but since I was only born in the mid 80s there are going to be some songs I don't even know, let alone have memories that go with them.

I totally love this idea and the name! I might use it soon. You need to creat a little button so other people can use it and give you credit for it. Serious.

Anywhoo, I don't have an memories with that song that hit me right off but I know what you mean about your mom knowing the song. My kids do the thing to me. They look at you shocked and say "how do you know that song". I love it. Especially since they think I am so uncool anyway.

Being a "tad bit" older, I remember The Four Seasons' version from the 60's better. I remember going to a dance and the band was playing it and..... *sob* nobody asked me to dance!

Oh, yes. Junior high - 7th grade, I believe. That song was ALL OVER the radio in Houston. I had just gotten one of those Doodle Art posters and a big set of markers and I would spend hours sitting in my room, coloring that giant poster and listening to Top 40 radio and daydreaming as I doodled. That song always takes me right back to that slice of time.

Yes, I lived on the edge.

Love your post idea!

Will you share this dance with me, Punkn?

I don't remember this song at all - my parents were Elvis-heads and Beatle-maniacs with a garnishing of Nat Cole.

I am SUCH a freak when it comes to old songs and I LOVE this song! I don't know what memories it brings back other than BBQ with friends, hanging out, having a drink (or 4) and just havin' a good time listenin' to music! :)

Thanks for the smile today! :) I love this post!

Seeing as how I was 10 when this song came out, I can say I don't remember hearing it on the radio. My parents only listened to light stuff or oldies (back then that was 40's and 50's music).

Regarding your comment about looking over and seeing someone dancing in their car...a friend of mine got caught doing that by someone that we had recently met at a seminar. Needless to say, she wasn't embarassed at all. Seriously, that didn't bother her. She loved rockin' out to music in her car. Me...I'm always worried what people might think when they see me doing that, lol.

Chicago's just a wee bit older than me so Im pretty much in the same boat, dont remember hearing it on the radio. We used to play alot of records at home on the stereo...Commodores, Blondie...etc..

I don't remember this song too well, but I loved the Spinners' "Rubber Band Man" and can sing the whole thing. This is odd coming from someone who ended up as a weekend punk-rocker!

That's a great song! It reminds me of when I fell in love with the oldies while I was in Art class in 7th grade. From their I got into the Beatles and never looked back, I love the oldies!

(I'm embarassed to say I was not alive when any of those songs were written!)
