Things have been going a little better around here. Thanks to my good friend Poetikat for reminding me of Valerian Root. This wonderful herb that will help you stay asleep. I actually had some when she mentioned it and almost kicked myself for not thinking of it sooner.
I also want to thank my good friend Iggy over at Intense Guy for bestowing this award on to me.
Erin: George Burns is dead!
I'm not sure if I ever posted a picture of my ankles, but he knows real talent when he reads about it.
It reminds me of my Grandmother, she used to wear heels everyday to work, even when she had to stand behind the Customer Service counter at JC Penneys all day at age 70.
She would stand in front of the mirror in her 3" heels and say, "Don't I have the most beautiful legs?" "Everyone tells me what gorgeous legs I have."
She also once said to my sister "Shut up, you little asshole!" Which puts her as hero status in my book. But that's a story for another time.
Speaking of my sister, Erin, I want to share a text conversation that Erin and I had today.
Me: Murphy's Romance is on sale at Border's for $8.99.
Erin: I love that movie!
Me: Me too! I LOVE James Garner!
Erin: Is he dead?
Me: No, he's not dead. He's my George Burns. (Ever since Erin was a little girl, she's had a thing for George Burns)
Erin: George Burns is dead!
Me: But James Garner isn't
Erin: So why are you rubbing it in that George Burns is dead? Asshole.
Me: I am stating a fact for your scorecard...George Burns dead...James Garner not dead.
Erin: Once again, rubbing it in that your favorite old man is NOT DEAD while mine is. Rude.
Me: You have to pick a new old man like I did. I used to love Robert Preston and he died so now I love James Garner. It's the circle of life.
Erin: I'm not over George yet.
Me: It's been 13 years.
Erin: Okay. My new favorite old man is...James Garner.
Me: You can't have him!
Erin: Oh yes I can!!
Me: Oh no you can't!!
Erin: Oh yes I can. I loved The Notebook! It's my new favorite movie.
Me: I will not share James Garner with you! Pick someone else! What about Sean Connery or Michael Caine?
Erin: No thanks.
Me: You can have Robert Redford AND Jack Nicholson.
Erin: Nope.
Me: PICK SOMEONE ELSE OR I'M TELLING MOM! What about Robert Duvall?
Erin: Which one is that?
Me: He played Tom Hagen the Consigliere in The Godfather.
Erin: Doesn't ring a bell.
Me: Did you see Secondhand Lions? He was the one who wasn't Michael Caine.
Erin: Yes. The tough one?
Me: yes
Erin: I did like that movie. Who was in it with him?
Me: The one who is not Robert Duvall is Michael Caine and Haley Joel Osmond is the one who was neither Michael Caine or Robert Duvall.
Erin: I like Michael Caine a lot.
Me: You can totally have him and I'll throw in Peter O'Toole from "My Favorite Year".
Erin: No thanks. I don't want Peter. I'll take Michael Caine.
Me: Good Choice.
Grandma was right, she's a little Asshole!!! Will not give up my old man until I dangle a shiny new old man to distract her.

LMAO! You and your sister are nuts.
And, LMAO even harder @ "I'm telling Mom"
OMG, you had me laughing through that whole conversation with your sister!
I'm glad things are improving with the Valerian.
My old man would be Clint Eastwood, hands down.
Sam Elliott!
When I asked my husband "whats that older actor named Sam, the one with the moustache?" he answered with "Yosemite Sam?"
You and your sister remind me of me and mine
Oh cool! This means I have Alan Alda all to myself then, right? *laffz*
My older not dead guy crush is Sam Elliot. LOVED Secondhand Lions! Another one of my favorite movies!
Man, I loved Rockford Files and old re-runs of Maverick. And Starsky and Hutch and Baretta and Kojak. Ahhh, I miss the 70's. Best TV ever.
This sort of sounds like the convo I have with my husband periodically - mainly asking the question: "Is he/she dead?" We refer to my mother who is the resident expert on all movie actors prior to 1960. If shes says they're dead, they're dead!
Personally, I'd take Garner over Duvall, but if you throw in Richard Harris - no wait a minute...he IS dead!
GREAT post!!!
Kat
That is hysterical!!! What a text conversation! Are your fingers tired???
Glad things are going a bit better. It is amazing how a little sleep can brighten things up.
As for you and your sister, you are hilarious. And Grandma is a pistol. But for the record, neither one of you can have James Gardner. I've already had him for years! But I'm a two-timer. I have both Gardner and Sean Connery and I refuse to share! Get your own old man! Those two are taken, LOL
I do have a thing for old men. The famous guys are fine, but let me tell you, little old men are my favorite patients EVER.
I had a little 90 year old this week who was so freakin' sweet, I couldn't stand it.
He was also trying to climb out of bed and pull out every line we had going, confused and convinced he just needed "to get off of this train!".
That part wasn't so cute. But he sure was.
You and your sister sound just like me and Michelle. Love it!
Sam Elliott fo sho! That voice melts me every time.
But my favorite movie is Second Hand Lions hands down! Love them shooting at the salesmen from the front porch and the music is GREAT!
And where the bed pan comes flying out of the hospital room. LOL
Di
The Blue Ridge Gal
Gosh! I get ALL the ol' wimmen since none of ya want any of 'em!!
WOoooooooooooHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Bea Authur! Come on down!
Demi Moore! Come on down! (put on steel helmet 'cause he knows he's gonna get flack)
Joan Rivers... you stay put.
Best coversation ever.
Sounds like me and my sister talking.
totally laugh at your conversation... & thinking - who's my old man???
Dont know if he's really considered old..65... he's older than my dad so yeah...
SAM ELLIOTT!!!!!
I have been hot for him as long as I can remember... the hair, the voice... oh... I get weak in the knees thinking of him!!!
That is just too funny!!! Love the asshole comment from your grandma. What a hoot!! LOL
Oh man, you have me rolling! You are too funny! I'm glad you're sleeping better! Now I'm going to have to put some serious thought into who I want MY old man to be...
So funny!!!!
Glad you are feeling better. I think my favorite old man is Richard Gere. I don't care if he did have an incident with a gerbil.
My sister, ERYN, and I are the same way. We wouldn"t have it any other way either.
omg this is hysterically funny....lol I'd have to say Sean Connery has been my 'old man' crush for years. He's just uber-sexy.
Robert Duvall as Tom Hagen *swoon*
But, you forgot Robert as Boo Radley in To Kill A Mockingbird--I'll be so kind as to link a little pic for your viewing pleasure!
I love James Garner, have since I was a little girl. BUT my fav old man is Sean Connery. Just his voice does it for me. Tell your sister, she can't have him!
LMAO!!! Just too funny!
Your Grandma sounds like a hoot!
